Before your hunt

Come Prepared

Field mornings here run cold and often wet — you'll be standing still in a blind well before sunrise, which feels a lot colder than moving around. Layer heavier than you think you need to.

We provide the decoys, blinds, calling, and guiding. Everything below is on you.

Required — Legal to Hunt

  • Valid Idaho hunting license
  • Idaho HIP registration
  • Federal Duck Stamp
  • Shotgun (12 or 20 gauge typical)
  • Non-toxic (steel or approved alternative) shot — required by federal law

Clothing

  • Waterproof, insulated waders or boots
  • Base layer + insulating mid-layer + waterproof/windproof outer shell
  • Camo or drab, non-flashy colors — no bright/reflective gear
  • Insulated gloves (a thin pair for shooting, a thick pair for waiting)
  • Warm hat and neck gaiter/buff
  • Extra dry socks

Good to Have

  • Hand warmers
  • Water and a quick breakfast/snack
  • Hearing protection
