Before your hunt
Come Prepared
Field mornings here run cold and often wet — you'll be standing still in a blind well before sunrise, which feels a lot colder than moving around. Layer heavier than you think you need to.
We provide the decoys, blinds, calling, and guiding. Everything below is on you.
Required — Legal to Hunt
- Valid Idaho hunting license
- Idaho HIP registration
- Federal Duck Stamp
- Shotgun (12 or 20 gauge typical)
- Non-toxic (steel or approved alternative) shot — required by federal law
Clothing
- Waterproof, insulated waders or boots
- Base layer + insulating mid-layer + waterproof/windproof outer shell
- Camo or drab, non-flashy colors — no bright/reflective gear
- Insulated gloves (a thin pair for shooting, a thick pair for waiting)
- Warm hat and neck gaiter/buff
- Extra dry socks
Good to Have
- Hand warmers
- Water and a quick breakfast/snack
- Hearing protection
- Sunglasses or shooting glasses
- Phone/camera for photos after the hunt
- Cash or card for gratuity, if you'd like to tip your guide
